Mark up only content that is visible on the page; Google can ignore or penalise structured data that does not match what users see. Valid markup makes a page eligible for rich results but does not guarantee them.

    What is JSON-LD schema markup?

    JSON-LD is a script block of structured data, using the schema.org vocabulary, that tells search engines and AI systems exactly what a page contains: an article and its author, an organization, a list of questions and answers, or a set of steps.

    Where do I paste the generated code?

    Paste the script tag anywhere in the page's HTML, usually in the head. Then check the live page with the Schema.org validator. For Article, Organization and BreadcrumbList you can also use Google's Rich Results Test; it no longer supports FAQ or HowTo.

    Will FAQ or HowTo markup still get rich results in Google?

    No. Google stopped showing HowTo rich results in September 2023 and FAQ rich results on 7 May 2026. Both types are still valid schema.org, Google says the markup causes no problems if you leave it in place, and other search engines and tools that read structured data can still parse it.

    Does schema markup help with AI answers?

    It can help some machine readers, but it is not a shortcut. Google's May 2026 guidance says its AI Overviews and AI Mode need no special schema, and no AI assistant guarantees it will use or cite structured data. Clear visible content matters most; markup should describe what is already on the page.

    Can it extract FAQs from my page automatically?

    Not yet. AI extraction of questions and answers from a URL is coming soon. For now you can paste many questions at once: put each question on its own line ending with a question mark and its answer below it.
