2. Markdown output (editable)

PDF files store positioned text, not structure, so headings are inferred from font size and paragraphs from line spacing. Check headings and tables in long or multi-column PDFs. Token counts use a rough 4-characters-per-token estimate. Excel dates are converted when the cell is formatted as a date; formulas show their last saved value.

How PowerPoint to Markdown conversion works

The converter unzips the .pptx file in your browser and reads each slide in presentation order:

Each slide becomes a section: Slide 1, Slide 2 and so on, followed by the slide title.
Body text becomes bullet points, keeping the indent level of sub-bullets.
Tables become Markdown tables.
Speaker notes are added under the slide as a quote, which is often where the real explanation lives.

Limits worth knowing

Images, charts and SmartArt are not included, because their text is stored outside the slide itself or is not text at all. Text boxes are read in the order they are stored in the file, which usually but not always matches the visual reading order. Older .ppt files are not supported; save them as .pptx first.

For Google Slides, choose File, Download, Microsoft PowerPoint (.pptx) and convert the downloaded file.

Are speaker notes included?

Yes. Each slide's speaker notes are added below the slide content as a quote block.

Are images and charts converted?

No. Images, charts and SmartArt are left out; the converter extracts slide text and tables.

Can I convert Google Slides?

Yes. Download the presentation from Google Slides as .pptx and convert that file.
